IPL 2018 Schedule Time Table


The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 schedule has been announced by BCCI. The tournament will inaugurate on Saturday, April 7 where defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) play against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The final will be played at the same venue i.e Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, May 27. A total of 60 matches will be played in 51 days across nine cities in India.

Among Eight teams, each team plays the other seven teams twice i.e one home game and one away (Round-robin format). Only the top-4 teams will qualify for the playoffs. The top-2 teams will face each other in the first qualifier in Mumbai and the winner will directly enter into the final. The losing team of the first qualifier will face the winner of the eliminator match (a match between the third-place team and the fourth-place team) that has been scheduled for May 23 in the second qualifier on May 25 and the winner will qualify for the final.

The IPL governing council decided to change the timings of the matches but the franchises didn't agree with that decision. Therefore BCCI goes ahead with the same timings as that of the last 10 editions - afternoon matches at 4 pm and evening matches at 8 pm. Here is the full schedule Of Vivo IPL 2018.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) never won the IPL title. They have played three finals but losing in each one of those. Before the auction RCB retained Indian superstar Virat Kohli captaining the side with AB de Villiers, and Sarfaraz Khan. RCB spend Rs 48.85 crore in the auction to bought 21 players squad. England all-rounder Chris Woakes was the most expensive purchase by the franchise for Rs 7.4 crore.

The franchise managed to buy back spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and all-rounder Pawan Negi using Right to Match (RTM) cards. RCB also invest some other overseas players like Quinton de Kock, Brendon McCullum, Moeen Ali and Colin de Grandhomme.

Surprisingly, Chris Gayle who played for RCB and fan-favorite went unsold on last day of the auction but Kings XI Punjab managed to pick him at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) always relays on their batting strength including Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Brendon McCullum at the top. They have some good all rounders like Colin de Grandhomme, Chris Woakes, and Moeen Ali.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) first winner Rajasthan Royals (RR) are back after two years of suspension. RR had success in the competition by winning it in 2008 and finishing runners-up in 2013. Before the auction franchise decides to retain the last edition Rising Pune Supergiant skipper Steve Smith. RR also used their Right to Match (RTM) card to retain Ajinkya Rahane and Dhawal Kulkarni.

England's all-rounder Ben Stokes was the most expensive player at the auction and RR purchase for Rs 12.5 crore in the bidding war with other franchises. Rajasthan also broke the bank for Jaydev Unadkat, by acquiring him for a whopping Rs 11.50 crore and make their second costliest purchase. Unadkat was also the most expensive Indian buy at the auction. They also managed to acquire former Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Jos Buttler for just Rs 4.4 crore and Sanju Samson for Rs 8 crore.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) relatively new franchise to starts their journey in 2012 IPL but already they have made their mark and won the IPL title in 2016. Last season they were managed to reach the playoffs. Sunrisers Hyderabad went into the auction after retaining David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. SRH use their three RTM card options to retain Shikhar Dhawan, Deepak Hooda, and Rashid Khan.

SRH looks to strengthen their middle order so, Manish Pandey was their costliest purchase for Rs 11 crore on day 1 of the IPL 2018 auction. SRH also includes some of the valuable all-rounders like Shakib Al Hasan, Carlos Brathwaite, Chris Jordan, Sandeep Sharma, Mohammad Nabi and Yusuf Pathan in their squad.

The Chennai Super Kings(CSK) are back to Indian Premier League 2018 along with Rajasthan Royals(RR) after two years of suspension. They regrouped their core team by retaining Mahendra Singh Dhoni Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina before an auction. CSK used their two Right to Match( RTM) card to bring back Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis. But they unable to retain Ravichandran Ashwin at the auction.

In total, CSK bought 22 players at the Auction and have a squad of 25 players, including eight overseas players. CSK has been quite conservative in their spendings and rather than spending big money on players they have used to buy some quality players. The costliest buy for CSK was Kedar Jadhav with the price tag of Rs 7.8 crores.

CSK also acquired some experienced players like Harbhajan Singh, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Imran Tahir and Dwayne Bravo. Chennai bid for Lungi Ngidi, star of the recently-concluded Test series between India and South Africa for Rs 50 lakh and also bought a lot of uncapped Indian players towards the end of the auction.

Mumbai Indians Team 2018: MI Squad for IPL 2018


Mumbai Indians(MI) is the most successful team by winning their third IPL title in last season. They beat the Rising Pune Supergiants(RPS) in a thrilling final and became the first team to win three IPL titles. Mumbai Indians retained their three key Indian players with skipper Rohit Sharma, seamer Jasprit Bumrah, and allrounder Hardik Pandya before the IPL 2018 auction.

The Mumbai use RTM (Right to match) card to buy both their all-rounders, Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya. Krunal was bought for Rs 8.8 crore tag price the Indian all-rounder becoming the most expensive uncapped player of IPL 2018 auction.

Mumbai Indians also releases their veteran Harbhajan Singh, and Lasith Malinga, who has been with the franchise since the start of the tournament in 2008.  The Franchise went on to purchase Pat Cummins and Mustafizur Rehman to strengthen their fast bowling attack, while for the spin department MI bought the 18-year-old spinner Rahul Chahar for Rs 1.9 crore.

KXIP Squad IPL 2018: Kings XI Punjab team players list


The Kings XI Punjab(KXIP) has made only one playoff appearance in  IPL where they finished with runners-up in 2014. They will be hoping to get a better result this time after spending Rs 67.4 crore. KXIP purchase 20 players during the two-day auction in Bengaluru. KXIP brought KL Rahul as the most expensive player by spending Rs 11 crore in the auction. They also got R Ashwin was their second costliest purchase at Rs 7.6 crore followed by Australia's Andrew Tye (Rs 7.2 crore) who took a hat-trick in last year IPL.

Kings XI Punjab(KXIP) retained the only player Axar Patel before the auction and use RTM cards to bring back David Miller, fast bowler Mohit Sharma and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. KXIP also pick Aaron Finch and Andrew Tye as one of their overseas players. Kings XI also spend on India batsman Yuvraj Singh and Universal Boss Chris Gayle at his base price.

Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) have always been gained popularity due to the association of Shah Rukh Khan. Under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir KKR won two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. But the biggest change, this year is Gautam Gambhir, will not be part of the KKR squad. Kolkata team is coached by Jacques Kallis and he will be trying to bring success back to the team. First, Kolkata Knight Riders should have looked for a player who can lead the side as captain.

After retaining two West Indian's Andre Russell and Sunil Narine before the auction, KKR also went for three Indian players Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, and Robin Uthappa via Right-to-Match (RTM). Kolkata Knight Riders kept the nucleus of the side by buying Robin Uthappa, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav and Surya Kumar Yadav. Chris Lynn (Rs 9.6 crore) and Mitchell Starc (Rs 9.4 crore) was the most expensive buy for Kolkata in the auction.

KKR also bought two India's Under 19 fast-bowling sensation Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi. KKR have the weakest bench strength, having only 19 players in the squad.

The Delhi Daredevils(DD) is one of the popular franchises who never won the IPL Trophy. After a great start in the first two seasons of IPL, they have struggled even to qualify for first four spots (playoffs). But this year Vivo IPL 2018, DD looking for a fresh start with new coach Ricky Ponting and a young squad of 25 players.

Before going to the IPL 2018 auction, Delhi Daredevils (DD) retained Rishabh Pant, Chris Morris, and Shreyas Iyer; and in the auction use Right to Match (RTM) cards, to bring back two pacers including Mohammed Shami and South African's Kagiso Rabada. DD also picked Gautam Gambhir and declared as the captain of the side. At the IPL 2018 auction, Glenn Maxwell was the costliest pick for the Daredevils for Rs 9 Crore.

Delhi Daredevils(DD) picked India's U19 captain Prithvi Shaw. They also brought 17-year-old spinner Sandeep Lamichanne and will become the first cricketer from Nepal to play for IPL.

The Indian Premier League(IPL) two days of the mega-auction for 2018 is over. For the upcoming season of the IPL, the eight franchises were rebuilt their squad. In two day of the auction, a total of 169 players have been sold (including 56 Overseas Players) by all franchise. England all-rounder Ben Stokes(Rs 12.5 Cr) was the most expensive player while Jaydev Unadkat(Rs 11.5 Cr)  turned out to be the most expensive India cricketer at the auction.
